Mission

Rice University and Houston Community College have created a partnership under the TORRE project (Texas Observatory for Remote Research and Education) in order to make accesible the dark skies of West Texas to researchers, educators and students at their offices, laboratories or homes. A 30 inch telescope at the McDonad Observatory will be refurbished and will be remotely controlled in order to facilitate research and education not only for Rice University and HCC, two very important higher education institutions in Houston but for institutions across the state of Texas and the nation.
